Road trip itinerary for Rajasthan starting Wed Dec 5

Yesterday afternoon we organised a road trip for the next two weeks for Rajasthan with the travel desk here at the hotel.  We will have a driver and a car.  We met our driver today.  His name is Depak and he is Nepalese.  I think it will be nice to spend the next few weeks with him.  He smiles a lot, speaks good English and loves music.  We got a sample of it today, the latest Bollywood song.  Should be fun.

This trip is for you Sally (Wills).  I remember you telling me how much you loved the area so thought we'd do it now while the weather is cooler in the desert region.  We thought we might go to Varanasi and surrounds but have decided to leave that till after winter.

In two weeks we will return to Delhi for one night.  Depak's car will be fitted with a roof rack for carrying the skis and we will head north making our way to Srinagar and Gulmarg.  This trip will be nine days.

Rajasthan road trip:
Delhi/Mandawa (1 night)/Bikaner (1 night)/Jaisalmer (2 nights)/Jodhpur (2 nights)/Udaipur (2 nights)/Chittorgarh (2 nights)/Bundi (1 night)/Pushkar (2 nights)/Delhi (1 night)

North road trip:
Chandigraph (1 night)/Shimla (2 nights)/Amritsar (2 nights)/Dharmasala (2 nights) - Christmas Day will  be spent here, where the Dalai Lama lives/Jammu (1 night)/Srinagar (1 night on the houseboat)/ next day we will be picked up and driven to Tangmarg, the village below Gulmarg

Sorry to bore everyone with these details but the blog is a travel record for us, you just have to skim over the blog and look for any bits that may interest you.

  1. What a great plan.......I was there in 1989 and still remember it as being a sensory overloaded holiday, like nothing I had ever experienced before? I went to Jaipur, Udaipur and Jaisalmer. Looking forward to reading more! Xoxo
