Driving to Jodphur, in the village of Pokhran Jim noticed this place in the distance, he said to Deepak, temple? Deepak said no, place for relaxing but he had never visited it before.
So we decided to take a look. We drove up the dirt track but had to stop at the railway line, from there we walked.
The place had such a good feel.
Beside the chatris (this means umbrella) there was an large area which looked like a lake should be there, in its day would have had water in it and the royals would have swam and lazed under the chatris to cool off.
Driving out we passed a young man and Deepak asked what was the name of the building and the history. The young man said he didn't know. It just appeared out of the ground ???????
When we arrived in Jodphur we Googled the village name under images and hey presto - it is a royal cenotaph but no date. Interesting.
It also stated that the Indian government had carried out nuclear weapons testing in the village in 1977 & 1998. Frightening isn't it!
