It is great to have a rest day today after
arriving late last night feeling tired and sore from the camel ride. We are staying across the road from Jaisalmer fort in a hotel. Unfortunately our haveli
was double booked. Deepak rang our
travel consultant (doesn't that sound flash) in Delhi and organized this place "Hotel Royale". Great Location. The roof top restaurant has yummy food, all vegetarian which
I like and Jim has enjoyed the stuffed capsicum and tomatoes.
One week into our trip now and feeling a tad sorry for myself. I am bit tired of lukewarm water bucket showers, straw hair, morning puffy eye syndrome, pollution and daily headaches from the morning fires to burn the rubbish. Jim seems content to wash the daily dust off as best he can, he has TV and beer, say no more. India is a land of contrasts - they can manage wifi, TV but find it difficult to have hot water or even warm water would be good.
We walked around the old city this morning inside
the fort. It was full of
shops. Amazing how a little retail
therapy can lift the spirits. I
bought two long sleeve cotton tops and a pair of loose linen pants. Jim could not be persuaded to buy a
pair of Ali Baba pants. He said it
looks like you have done a poo in them.
This is a good rest day for Deepak as well
as for us as tomorrow is another 6 hour drive to Jodphur.
